Tamim overtakes Shakib as Tigers’ leading T20I run-scorer

Tamim Iqbal became the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh in the ongoing first T20I against Pakistan at Lahore today.

The left-hander started the day on 1,961 runs, only six behind Shakib Al Hasan's haul. In the sixth over, he smashed a Haris Rauf delivery through extra cover to go past Shakib's score and become Bangladesh's highest run-getter in T20Is. Tamim averages 23.80 with the bat in T20Is with a strike rate of 117.1. He has one T20I ton and six fifties to his name during a career spanning 13 years.

Tamim fell in the 11th over after scoring a 34-ball 39 following a steady 71-run opening partnership with Mohammad Naim.

Mahmudullah Riyad is third in the run getters' list behind Tamim and Shakib with a haul of 1430 runs. Riyad is followed by Mushfiqur Rahim and Sabbir Rahman in the list.
