Mominul wants to learn from U-19s’ success
Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque said that there was a lot to learn for the senior team from the U-19s' success yesterday.
Speaking at a press conference following his side's innings and 44-run defeat against Pakistan at Rawalpindi, Mominul said: "Junior or senior, you can learn from everywhere. They gave some ideas of how to do well. I have to congratulate them. In Test matches we have to improve."
Bangladesh were bundled out within an hour and 25 minutes today at Rawalpindi, losing their four remaining wickets. The Test captain felt that what the senior side can learn is the faith shown by the young Tigers. "They fought back really hard. We should learn from them. We also have to learn one more thing from them which is the way they believe in every moment," Mominul reiterated.
"They were really hungry. They have been together for two years and they know about each other and how they have to communicate. They backed each other on the field and shouted encouragements to each other and these are very positive things. This is Bangladesh cricket's greatest achievement. We all have to congratulate them. I think this World Cup provided us with six or seven players for the future who will be able to support the Bangladesh team," Mominul said of the things he noticed from U-19s' triumph in Potchefstroom.
Asked what they can learn from their innings defeat in Rawalpindi, he said: "The wicket was very batting friendly and we could not build big partnerships. We settled down in the wicket after some runs and then got out.
Very disappointing performance for us. We have to improve a lot of things."
