Zim 228/6 at stumps after Nayeem's four-fer

Zim 228/6 in 90 overs

Stumps: Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine struck a ton as the tourists reach 228 for six at the end of day one of the one off Test against Bangladesh. The left-hander played some brilliant shots to keep the Bangladesh bowlers at bay from one end but Bangladesh gained a slight advantage as he was removed by Nayeem Hasan  after a 227-ball 107 two overs prior to stumps.

Nayeem was the star of the show for the Tigers, bowling 36 overs on the day, bagging four wickets for 68 runs with some very good flighted deliveries while he kept the batsman guessing with his drifters. Abu Jayed, who started proceedings brightly for the Tigers, finished with two for 51.

[Wicket] 88.2: Zim 226/6 - Nayeem gets the drifter right and it slides after pitching on middle and leg with the in-form Ervine playing for the turn and is left completly bamboozled when the ball crashes onto his stumps after sneaking thorugh bat and pad. CR Ervine b Nayeem Hasan 107 (227b 13x4 0x6) SR: 47.13

85.1: Zim 212/5: Ervi{ne clips Ebadot off his pads to run a double to complete his ton. 13 fours in that innings.

[Wicket] 79.4: Zim 199/4 - Rahi gets one to swing late into the right- hander from outside the off stump and it wraps the batsman on the pads. Zimbabwe asks for a review but to no avail. Ball pitched in line and hitting stumps. T Maruma lbw b Abu Jayed 7 (35b 1x4 0x6) SR: 20.00

76.1: Zim 190/4 - Taijul to Maruma. Batsman offers no shot as it wraps his pads. Umpire raises the finger. Zimbabwe asks for the review and replay shows ball pitches outside the off stump and missing the stumps. Batsman survives.

[Wicket] 70.1: Zim 174/4 - Nayeem removes Raza after tea. Bowls over the wicket and gets the drifter to slide across the right-hander,. Raza edges it throught to Liton Das. Sikandar Raza c †Liton Das b Nayeem Hasan 18 (62b 3x4 0x6) SR: 29.03

Tea: The second session of the day has been a good one for Bangladesh despite the dropped chances as they managed to bag the wicket of Masvaure and Taylor with both wickets taken by Nayeem Hasan. The seamers have bowled well and very economically. Captain Craig Ervine remains unbeaten on 60 as Zimbabwe head to Tea on day one at 150 for 3.

[Wicket] 50.4: Zim 134/3 - Taylor tries to reverse sweep but manages to bring it back on to his stumps. Another wicket for Nayeem. BRM Taylor b Nayeem Hasan 10 (11b 1x4 0x6) SR: 90.90

49.6: Zim 132/2 - Ervine hits Taijul for four to bring up his fifty.

[Wicket] 48.1: Zim 118/2 - After two dropped chances, Masvaure finally departs to Nayeem Hasan as the bowler takes the catch off his own bowling. PS Masvaure c & b Nayeem Hasan 64 (152b 9x4 0x6) SR: 42.10

42.6: Zim 100/1 - Dropped! Masvaure comes down the track off Nayeem but doesn't manage to adjust to the flight and turn and edges it to the man at slip. The ball carried but Shanto drops it al slip. Another chance goes begging.

40.2: Zim 99/1 - Masvaure chips it to back to the bowler Nayeem Hasan who has dropped it. It was a difficult one but neverthless a dropped chance. Bangladesh will be disappointed.

33.1: Zim 87/1 - Masvaure reaches fifty with a straight drive off Jayed. Eight fours in that knock.

Lunch: Zimbabwe reached 80 for the loss of just one wicket at Lunch on day one of the one off Test against Bangladesh after they decided to bat having won the toss. Abu Jayed had gotten the hosts off to a good start, managing the edge of Kasuka's bat in the eighth over. The pacers kept the batsmen quiet but spinner Taijul Islam has been expensive so far in the morning session as he conceded 33 in his six overs so far. It has been a fine partnership between Masvaure and captain Craig Ervine as the duo has kept things solid for the visitors with a 73-run partnership. Nayeem Hasan, picked in place of Mehedi Hasan Miraz,  has been impressive so far. He used the flighted ones and also got the ball to turn sharply after pitching. The Zimbabwe duo have played him carefully with Nayeem beating the bat of Masvaure on a couple of occasions.

23.4: Zim 60/1: Ervine brings out the  reverse sweep to good effect against Taijul and gets a boundary to bring up the fifty partnership between him and Masvaure. The spinners have come in for a bit of stick with runs coming in since the 19th over.

Captain Craig Ervine has come to the crease and Masvaure survived a loud appeal for leg-before off Jayed in the 12th over. Bangladesh have started spin from both end with Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan bowling in tandem.

[Wicket] 7.6: Zim 7/1 - Abu Jayed Rahi gets the breakthrough that Bangladesh were looking for. Set the batsman up with an in-dipper in the previous delivery. This time he hits the perfect length just outside off stump and the batsman was perhaps looking for the in-swinger again. Ball zips off the surface after hitting the seam and gets the outside edge. Nayeem takes the catch at gully. Jayed is able to make use of that help in the surface in the early morning. The ball has swung for him this morning and just as his coach had wanted him to, Jayed has managed to breakthrough. KT Kasuza c Nayeem Hasan b Abu Jayed 2 (24b 0x4 0x6) SR: 8.33

6.1: Zim 5/0: First runs off the bat comes in the seventh over of the innings as left-hander Masvaure punches Ebadot through the covers for four.

No runs have come in the first four overs bowled by pace duo Ebadot Hossain and Abu Jayed before the former gave a wide to get Zimbabwe off the mark, the tourists are yet to score off the bat.

Toss: Zimbabwe have won the toss and elected to bat against Bangladesh in the one off Test at Dhaka today.

Squads: As was expected, Bangladesh have two pacers and two spinners in the side. Nayeem Hasan comes in with Rubel Hossain out of the squad after the Pakistan Test. Mushfiqur Rahim also returns after sitting out the Pakistan Test.

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Saif Hassan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque (c), Mohammad Mithun, Liton Das (wk), Mushfiqur Rahim , Taijul Islam, Abu Jayed, Ebadot Hossain, Nayeem Hasan

Zimbabwe: Prince Masvaure, Kevin Kasuza, Craig Ervine (c), Brendan Taylor, Timycen Maruma, Sikandar Raza, Regis Chakabva (wk), Donald Tiripano, Victor Nyauchi, Ainsley Ndlovu, Charlton Tshuma

Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo has already stated that he would go with two pacers and two spinners in this match. The spin dependency in the past at home in spinning turfs has led the spinners in to a false sense of security, according to Domingo and that has hurt the side when they needed to play abroad in pace-friendly conditions. It would be interesting to see how Bangladesh can transform themselves after having lost their last six Tests.

Welcome to our live update of the lone Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, slated to begin today. The toss would take place shortly.
