<i>Man jailed for taking drugs used for cattle</i>
A man was arrested and jailed in the district town on Wednesday on charge of taking an anti-histamin injection, which is generally used for treatment of cattle.
Police said they raided a saw mill in PTI area and caught Altaf, 40, son of Aiyub Ali of Polladanga Mohalla, while he was taking the injection in the morning.
The arrestee said, earlier he used to take heroin and now he had been addicted to 'Astavet' anti-histamin injection. He is taking the injection for the last three years as the price of heroin went up.
An ampule of anti-histamin injection is available in the town at Tk 15 only, he said.
Later, police handed Altaf over to a mobile court which sentenced him to three months imprisonment.
District livestock officer Kalyan Kumar Foujdar said anti-histamin injection is used for treatment of allergy of cattle.
"We can not says without test how much it is harmful to human body," he added.
Meanwhile, a mobile court in Dinajpur on Tuesday convicted seven drug peddlers and sentenced them to different terms of imprisonment for selling and consuming drugs, reports UNB.
