Myanmar emerge champs

Myanmar emerged champions in the team event of the Runner Group Bangladesh Amateur Golf Championship at Kurmitola Golf Course in Cantonment yesterday.
Myanmar, comprising Yan Myo Aye and Maung Maung Oo finished top with a gross score of 290 as Maung played a superb three under par 69 and Yan played two over par 74 on the day after both were leading the opening day scores.
Hosts Bangladesh A and B along with India and Pakistan finished joint second with same scores but Pakistan were declared runners-up after evaluating the back count tie-breaking system, said a press release.
In the individual event, Indian Kahlin Joshi led the table after playing two under par 69 in the second round with aggregate two-day scores of 139.
He was followed by Yan Myo Aye, who scored one under par 71 to have two-day score of 143.
Local boys Dulal Hossain and Sajib Ali were jointly holding the third place with level par scores of 144 each.
