‘Retrieving the Whole’

Photo exhibition in Sylhet

Based on the theme 'Retrieving the Whole', a photo exhibition was held at Arjuntala on the campus of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST),Sylhet on Thursday to mark Victory Day.
To preserve the memories and achievements of Bengalis from the Aryan era to '71, around 100 photographs have been on display.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed(SUST) inaugurated the exhibition, arranged by Shahjalal University Photographers Association (SUPA).
Eminent writer Dr. Mohammed Zafar Iqbal is the driving force behind the exhibition, while the photographs are provided by SUST Moktijoddha Corner.
The exhibition has drawn hundreds of students and teachers each day.
The photographs unravel from the stone inscriptions of Aryan era, to relics of Mohasthangar, Battle of Plassey, on to images of Ishwar Chandra Bidyasagar, Begum Rokeya and the movements against colonial rule. The exhibits then go on to the developments of 1952,1966, 1969, 1971, George Harrison's concert, Indira Gandhi, and the surrender of General Niazi to General Aurora, among others.
“Through this exhibition, the spirit of the Liberation War will permeate among the new generation,” said Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
