Rickshaw mechanic slaughtered

A rickshaw mechanic was found slaughtered in a rickshaw garage at Patira at Khilkhet in the city early yesterday.
The dead was identified as Jahangir Alam, 32, of Fulpur in Mymensingh. He was working at the garage as a rickshaw mechanic.
Police recovered the body from the garage at 7:00am.
Jahangir went to sleep in the garage of local Awami League leader Mohammd Wahid along with 12 others, mostly rickshawpullers, on Monday night.
Police picked up 11 of those who slept inside the garage for interrogation while another rickshawpuller named Masud has been absconding since the incident.
Sub-Inspector Farid Uddin of Khilkhet Police Station who is investigating the incident said the detainees told him that they along with Jahangir went to sleep around 12:00 midnight. They woke up around 6:30am only to find him slaughtered and informed the police.
Police could not unearth the motive behind the killing.
