2 brothers hacked dead by cousins in Mymensingh
Two siblings were hacked dead and another injured when a quarrel with their cousins reached armed fight in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh this morning.
Tofazzal Miah, 45, and Swapan Miah, 32, sons of late Sarafat Ali. The deceased were rickshaw-pullers in Dhaka by profession, police say.
Their elder brother, Abdus Sattar, had an altercation with their cousins Abul Khayer and Jahar Uddin two months ago on sharing of stagnant rainwater for irrigation, our Mymensingh correspondent reports quoting Md Saiful Islam Farazi, officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station.
“The quarrel pursued when Tofazzal and Swapan came home during Eid vacation. The fighting between the relatives took place Friday morning around 7:30am,” he said.
Khayer and Jahar hacked Tofazzal and Swapan with sharp weapons indiscriminately, he said. “The two victims died on the spot. Sattar was injured.”
The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj Modern Hospital. No one was detained until filing of this report around 1:00pm.
Preparation was on to file a case.
