Celebrations in Mymensingh

Udichi Shilpi Goshthi, Mymensingh unit held a cultural programme on November 1 at the local town hall on the occasion of the organisation's 40th anniversary. The programme included music, dance and a drama titled "Jainaker Maha Prayan."
Udichi artistes opened the show with group renditions of patriotic songs. Among others, Moshefa Akhtar Mim, Injamul-ibne-Kabir, Mushfiq Arefin Mobin, Trishna and Kouri performed at the evening.
The cast of "Jainaker Maha Prayan" included Moni Bhattacharya, Tithi Dutta, Rudra, Rana, Ariful Islam Habib, Monir Hossain, Sagar, Komal, Robin, Fayzul, Shithi and Chinmoy.
Earlier, a discussion was held with Advocate AHM Khalequzzaman, President of Udichi's Mymensingh unit, in the chair.
Among others, Udichi Vice Presidents AKM Mojibur Rahman and Principal Abdus Sobhan; Convenor of Sammalito Sangskritik Jote, Professor Amir Ahmed Chowdhury; Convenor of Group Theatre's Mymensingh unit and Secretary of Bahurupi Natya Sangstha, Shahadat Hossain Khan, and others spoke at the discussion.
Speakers at the programme expressed their concern regarding the recent surge of aggression on cultural practices and freedom of expression in the country.
Udichi, a leading cultural organisation in the country, has been committed to the masses for the last 40 years, despite several attacks on its activities and members.
