49th anniversary of Farakka Long March observed

The 49th anniversary of the historic Farakka Long March was observed today with a commemorative rally and discussion programme at Rajshahi College Auditorium.

The event, organised by the Farakka Long March 49th Anniversary Celebration Committee, commenced with a rally from Rajshahi College to Zero Point and back at 3:30pm.

A discussion session followed at 4:00pm highlighting concerns over transboundary river water sharing and regional environmental impacts.

The programme was chaired by Mahbub Siddiki, river researcher and convener of the anniversary celebration committee with Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter as chief guest. DNCC administrator Mohammad Ezaz was present as special guest.

Press Institute Bangladesh Director General Faruk Wasif, RU VC Prof Saleh Hasan Naqib, among others, were present.

The keynote paper was presented by RU Registrar Prof Iftekharul Alam Masud.
