Hearing on charge framing deferred

A Dhaka court yesterday adjourned till March 12 the hearing on charge framing against seven accused, including the wife and son of convicted war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, in a draft verdict leakage case.

The case was filed against them for allegedly leaking the draft verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 that sentenced Salauddin to death in October 2013.

Judge KM Shamsul Alam of Cyber Tribunal of Dhaka passed the order as Salauddin's wife Farhat Quader Chowdhury, now on bail, could not appear before it due to illness.

The other accused are: Salauddin's son Humam Quader Chowdhury, his manager Mahbubul Ahsan, his lawyer Fakhrul Islam, the tribunal's office assistant Faruk Hossain and janitor Nayan Ali, and Fakhrul's assistant Mehedi Hasan.

Humam is on bail, Mehedi is at large and the others are in custody.
