Abducted man's body found after 5 months

Police yesterday recovered the decomposed body of an insurance official, abducted about five months ago, from a water body in the district's Sakhipur upazila.
The dead, Saiful Islam Khan, 45, was the manager of Progressive Life Insurance Company Ltd at Sakhipur upazila branch.
Police also arrested a youth, Ashraf Hossain, for his alleged involvement in the abduction and killing.
Police said Ashraf along with his aide had kidnapped Saiful when he was returning home at Aag Charan village in Kalihati upazila from his workplace on December 11.
A day later, Saiful's wife Ferdousi Begum first lodged a general diary with Sakhipur Police Station. She also filed an abduction case against three people, including Ashraf, on April 9.
Mokhlesur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sakhipur Police Station, said acting on a tip-off, police nabbed Ashraf, of Kalian village in Sakhipur, from Jaflong in Sylhet on Sunday night in this connection and interrogated him.
As per his confessional statement, police recovered Saiful's body from Nokhil Beel, a water body, around 2:30pm.
Mokhlesur said Ashraf confessed that he along with his aide had killed Saiful on the day he had been kidnapped by hitting him on his head with a stick over previous enmity, and later dumped the body into the Nokhil Beel in a sack.
Police were trying to arrest Ashraf's aide, he added.
