CUDS founding anniversary programme begins

A two-day programme marking the 12th founding anniversary of Chittagong University Debating Society (CUDS) began yesterday with a view to familiarising people with different formats of debate.
Eminent social scientist Prof Dr Anupam Sen inaugurated the programme as the chief guest at Muslim Institute Hall with CUDS Moderator Prof Dr Mahbubul Hoque in the chair.
CUDS President Tajul Islam delivered the welcome speech while Shahnoor Wahid, editor of Star Campus, a weekly publication of The Daily Star, Chief Coordinator of Radio Today Nasimul Gani, Shoeb Riaz of Ilias Brothers, Marketing Manager of Al Amin Group of Industries Monowar Hossain Ratan, Regional Sales Manager of Nestle Bangladesh Shahadat Hossain and CUDS General Secretary Abdus Samad Himel also spoke.
The speakers at the programme said that debate would help the students grow as more logical and sophisticated persons.
Eminent debaters from different educational institutions and teachers, lawyers and journalists participated at parliamentary debate, professionals' debate and teacher-student debate yesterday. Later, a cultural programme was held.
