Tongi power plant opens in January

Tongi Power Station is expected to be commissioned next month.

Ninety-five percent work of the station, being built at a cost of Tk 369 core, has been completed.

This was stated by State Minister for Power Iqbal Hasan Mahmood while visiting the station yesterday.

He ordered to complete the rest of the work soon.

Iqbal said the 105 MW power station would be able to meet the energy demands of the capital as well as the industrial areas of Tongi.

It will also be supportive to meet the extra demand of energy for irrigation in dry season, he added.

The power station is being constructed from the government's own fund, said a press release.
