DU syndicate to sit in a week to decide reopening

The Dhaka University (DU) syndicate would sit in a week to decide on reopening the university, Vice Chancellor SMA Faiz said yesterday.
"We will try to sit within a week," Faiz told a private television channel adding that deans' meeting is necessary before holding the syndicate meeting.
The DU VC said he would meet teachers to appoint two acting deans for the Social and Life Sciences faculties as the deans of the faculties are currently in jail.
He said the Dhaka University Teachers' Association urged him to reopen the university after the Ramadan.
Faiz said the university might partially be reopened during the holy month for the convenience of the student-researchers.
The authorities would take steps to remove the "sense of insecurity" among the teachers and students before reopening the university, the VC added.
