‘Strict lockdown’: 208 fined in Khulna in three days for defying restrictions
A total of 208 people have been fined by mobile courts in Khulna for defying the government-imposed restrictions since the seven-day "strict lockdown" began across the country on Wednesday.
The drives have been conducted in Khulna city and its nine upazilas in the three days under the direction of Khulna district Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain, our Khulna correspondent reports quoting district administration sources.
On the third day of the seven-day "strict lockdown" today, mobile courts in Khulna fined 36 people Tk 22,950 for defying the restrictions, the sources said.
Apart from this, people were called upon to wear masks and follow health guidelines and warned that legal action would be taken against those involved in defying the restrictions.
Today, a large number of people were seen moving on easy-bikes, rickshaws and auto-rickshaws in different parts of the city including Daulatpur, Khalishpur, Phulbarigate and Boyrabazar.
A large number of people were seen shopping at Daulatpur bazar. Almost all the shops on the footpaths were seen open, added our correspondent.
On the second day, eight mobile courts conducted drives in the Khulna city where a total of 40 people were fined Tk 24,300.
Besides, the upazila nirbahi officers and assistant commissioners (land) of Khulna's nine upazilas fined 47 persons Tk 9,200 during their drives on the day.
On the first day, 85 persons -- 37 in Khulna town and 48 in nine upazilas of the district -- were fined a total of Tk 54,500 during those drives.
