Stern actions if anyone tries to ruin CCC election atmosphere, warns RO
Stern actions will be taken if anyone tries to ruin election atmosphere during tomorrow's Chattagram City Corporation polls, Returning Officer of the election Mohammad Hasanuzzaman said today.
"My appeal to the voters is to go to the polling centres without any fear and cast votes according to their choice. We have taken all out measures so that voters can return to their home safely after casting votes," he said while talking to The Daily Star at his office.
The RO said the election commission has ensured foolproof security in the whole area under Chattagram City Corporation area.
"We hope tomorrow's city corporation polls will be held in a very competitive and festive manner," he said adding, "There is no concern about any untoward incidents in the election."
He said the EC has identified 416 centres out of total 735 as important upon being asked.
Eighteen members of police and Ansar will be deployed at each important polling centre while 16 members at each of the 319 general polling stations.
A total 15,000 law enforcement agency members including BGB, Rapid Action Battalion, Police and Ansar have been deployed to hold the election in a free and fair environment.
Besides, a total of 69 executive magistrates and 20 judicial magistrates will be on duty tomorrow.
Of the 69 executive magistrates, 41 will remain present in each of the 41 wards, one will be with each of the 25 BGB platoons and one with each of the three special teams of Rab.
Each judicial magistrate will work in every two wards of the CCC, Hasanuzzaman also said.
Earlier in the morning, the RO distributed Electronic Voting Machines and others election material among the presiding officers of different polling centres.
A total of 4886 EVMs will be installed at the same number of polling booths. Besides, 735 EVMs will be kept as back-up.
