Bus runs over BAEC official in Banani
A female official of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) was seriously injured after the wheels of a bus ran over her right leg in Banani area of Dhaka yesterday noon.
Afroza Begum, 58, was receiving treatment at National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) in the capital, her son Al Amin told The Daily Star.
The incident happened when his mother was returning home in Cantonment's Kochukhet area from Palash upazila of Narsingdi by a bus.
Noor- e-Alam Miah, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station, said the woman got down from the bus near Banani Army Club intersection around 12:00pm.
The same bus ran over her right leg after she was hit by the vehicle and fell on the road, said the OC.
Police seized the bus but its driver managed to flee the scene, added the OC.
Afroza's son Al Amin further said her mother was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition and later shifted to the Nitor for better treatment.
She has been kept under observation there.
