A photo has recently gone viral in social media which shows a Bangladesh map being made with phensidyl bottles seized by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Kushtia, BBC Bangla reports.

The BGB on February 4 organised a programme in Kushtia’s Mirpur to destroy drugs and narcotics seized during different drives, the report says.

At the programme, all the narcotic products were showcased before being demolished. Among the installations, one was made using phensidyl bottles, arranged in the form of the map of Bangladesh, according to the report.

The image went viral on different social media sites, with netizens criticising the BGB for “insulting the map of Bangladesh”.

Some also opined that such installations downplay the importance of such programmes.

BGB, however, said they made the installation to portray the spread of narcotics in all the regions across the country and emphasise BGB’s role in curbing the menace, according to the BBC Bangla report.

It was not made with any other motivation, the border force said.
