Man held with 'pistol' at Dhaka airport

Customs officials arrested a man with a “pistol” at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in capital Dhaka today.

The arrestee was identified as Hasan Ali, Sazzad Hossain, assistant commissioner of customs, told The Daily Star.

Hasan arrived in Dhaka by a flight TK712 from Turkey around 5:30am, added the customs official.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of customs took position at key points of the airport and arrested Hasan on suspicion.

After searching his luggage, customs officials seized a foreign pistol and 100 bullets, the official said.

The arrestee was handed over to police.
