Tigers move up to eighth in Test rankings

Bangladesh have moved above the West Indies in the ICC Test rankings and now sit in eighth position after the latest updates were announced. This is Bangladesh's highest position in the ICC Test Rankings since they gained Full Member status back in 2000.
Since the start of 2015, Tigers have won three of their 18 Tests, drawn five and lost 10. West Inidies, who were pushed down to ninth have played in 28 Tests since 2015 and lost 18 matches, winning five and drawing five.
Tigers drew both of their home-series against formidable Australia and England. Former Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim, who was at the helm during those crucial home series in 2016 and 2017 and also the drawn series away at Sri Lanka, shared his views after the rankings were announced.
"That we are improving in Tests, playing well for the last four to five years and the ranking shows that.
"Ranking doesn't improve because of playing well in one series. Hard work is important in order to make progress."
The cricketer suggested that it would be difficult to keep their standing.
"It's difficult to maintain this position and even more difficult to go up further in the future. But we have the players who are capable of making this possible," Mushfiqur concluded.
