Counter Terrorism Unit of Chittagong Metropolitan Police early today arrested two “Neo JMB” operatives at Madarbari in the port city.

Arrestees Ashfaqur Rahman Russel alias Abu Mahir Al Bangali, 22, and Rakibul Hasan Jony alias Abu Taisir Al Bangali, 19, had been planning to attack establishments of law enforcement agencies, police claimed.

Police recovered 10 grenades, two suicide vests, and a document containingtheir plans from their possession, said Palash Kanti Nath, additional deputy commissioner of CMP, who led the drive.

The counter terrorism unit conducted the drive at a five-storey building around 12:30am and arrested them on the fourth floor, he said.

Palash said the arrestees were under the unit's custody for further quizzing.
