Child marriage bid foiled in Ctg

A 15-year-old girl was saved from early marriage at Sadaha union in Satkania upazilaof Chittagong yesterday.

Being informed, Satkania police summoned the parents of both bride, who is a ninth grader, and 25-yearl-old groom, an expatriate in Saudi Arabia, to the police station and briefed them on the adverse effects of child marriage, said Officer-in-ChargeRafiqul Islam.

Then, both the families cancelled the wedding ceremony slated for Thursday, he added.

EnamulKabir, councillor of Satkania municipality ward no- 1 was present at the police station.
