8 sued over Indian medical student murder
Eight persons were sued today in connection with murder of Ateef Sheikh, an Indian student of a private university in Chittagong.
Victim’s father Abdul Khalique filed the case with Akbar Shah Police Station, Mohammad Alamghir, officer-in-charge of Akbar Shah Police Station, told our Chittagong staff correspondent.

The accused are: Maisnam Winson Singh, 24, Gangmei Niraj, 25, Tongbram Jyotsana Debi, Prabhakar Laishram, 23, Malemnganba Mayengbam, 25, Athokpam Ronald, 24, Promesh Chakma alias Tuku and Sojol Chakma alias Moon, 25.
Five of the accused are students of University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) -- three Indians and two Bangladeshis.
Ateef, 25, a student of USTC, was stabbed dead in the city’s Akbar Shah area on Saturday.
No one has been arrested so far in connection with the incident.
According to the First Information Report, the victim’s father claimed that his son was killed in a planned way.
