Nahid for teachers’ role in curbing militancy
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today stressed for teachers’ role in nurturing ethics among the students to keep them from the path of militancy.
Speaking at a programme in Dhaka today, the minister urged the teachers to create an interesting atmosphere in classrooms to draw the students towards education.
He also stressed for increasing extra-curricular and cultural activities in schools and offering “the right education to students so that they cannot be diverted to wrong”.
“The existing law alone can’t defeat militancy. We need a social movement and resistance. Our ministry is working to assemble the social resistance,” he said.
“You (teachers) are most respectable personalities. You must make sure that the students you raise have an ethical moral standard, so that the students grow up to be compassionate human beings.”
Nahid was speaking at a gathering of teachers themed on creating militancy-free educational institution at Krishibid Institution, organised by Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board of Dhaka.
