Benapole budget announced

Benapole municipality yesterday announced a proposed budget of Tk 82 crore for fiscal year 2016-2017. Announcing the budget at the municipality auditorium, Mayor Asraful Alam Liton said the budget is a development-oriented one aiming at providing better civic facilities to townspeople. No new tax has been imposed in the budget but Benapole municipality is determined to realise arrears, the mayor said. According to the budget, Tk 4.82 lakh will come from revenue earning while the rest Tk 77 crore 26 lakh will be provided by the government as grant to meet the development expenditure. Tk 20 crore has been earmarked for construction and renovation of roads, Tk 5 crore for improving drainage and water supply, Tk 20 lakh for sanitary project, Tk 1 crore for reconstruction of bridges and culverts, Tk 2 crore for construction of community centre and Tk 15 crore for construction of Bus and truck terminal.
