Boishakhi fair from today
The 107th edition of 'Abdul Jabbarer Boli Khela”, a century-old conventional wrestling, will be held at the historical Laldighi Moidan in the port city on Monday.
On the occasion, a three-day Boishakhi Mela (fair) will also start from today (Sunday) at Laldhigi Moidan and its surrounding areas.
This year around two hundred Bolis (wrestlers) would take part at the Boli Khela (wrestling) from different upazilas of Chittagong division and other parts of the country, said the organisers at a press conference held at Chittagong Press Club (CPC) yesterday.
Abdul Jabbar Smriti Kusti Protijogita O Baishakhi Mela Udjapan Parishad is organsing the event and the fair with support from telecom operator Grameenphone.
At the conference, Abdul Jabbar Smriti Kusti Protijogita O Baishakhi Mela Udjapan Parishad's President Jahar Lal Hajari said though the fair will start from Sunday but informally the fair already has began on over a one-and-a-half square km area, covering Anderkilla to Kotwali and Shahid Minar to Badarpatti area.
Shawkat Anwar Badal, general secretary of the Parishad said all necessary preparations have been taken to hold the fair and Boli Khela successfully.
