A group of armed robbers shot a youth to death at his residence at Jatrabari in the capital Friday.
Deceased Bokhtiar Mohammad Latif, 20, son of Jahid al Latif, recently completed O-level from an English medium school in Dhanmondi, said Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station.
Describing the incident, Bokhtiar's uncle Mir Ahsanul Alam said a group of at least six robbers entered the house of his brother-in-law at North Jatrabari breaking open the door around 3:30am.
The criminals tried to loot valuables including cash and gold ornaments keeping Jahid and the housemaid tied with ropes, he added.
