Shibir calls hartal in 3 northern dists for Thursday

Islami Chhatra Shibir on Wednesday called a daylong hartal (shutdown) in Rajshahi, Natore and Chapainawabganj for Thursday demanding release of its two leaders.

The student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami will enforce the hartal in the three northern districts from 6:00am, according to a statement sent by the party to the newsmen.

Detectives arrested two Shibir leaders of the Rajshahi University unit from Shahjadpur in the capital on Monday without showing any arrest warrant, reported our RU correspondent quoting RU unit Shibir President Ashraful Alam.

The leaders are Azizur Rahaman, students' movement affairs secretary, and Tazammul Ali, finance secretary of RU unit of Shibir.
