Gildan employees support Iftar meal distributions during Ramadan

More than 3,500 iftar meal packets were distributed across Bangladesh this month in a joint initiative by Gildan, the Jaago Foundation and Volunteers for Bangladesh (VBD), targeting communities living near Gildan's manufacturing facilities.

The meal distributions took place in three locations: Gulshan, Dhaka (17 March), AK Khan Road in Chattogram (19 March), and Savar (21 March). Each iftar packet included a main dish alongside dates, bananas, plums, yoghurt and water, intended to offer a balanced meal for those breaking their fast during Ramadan.

The beneficiaries included low-income families, daily wage earners and others facing economic hardship. According to the organisers, the initiative aimed to provide meals "with dignity" for those observing Ramadan in difficult conditions.

Over 350 Gildan employees volunteered alongside 95 members from JAAGO and VBD to deliver the meals and connect directly with recipients. Organisers described the event as a demonstration of corporate social responsibility and cross-sector collaboration.

JAAGO Foundation is a non-profit organisation that works to improve access to education and address poverty in Bangladesh through various community programmes. VBD operates as the youth wing of the foundation.

Gildan is a global apparel manufacturer with operations in Bangladesh. The company has previously engaged in various social outreach programmes alongside local partners.
