UCEP students' success defies class boundaries

Reception told

Working children scoring GPA 5 in all subjects in the SSC (vocational) examinations have proven that merit is capable of transcending class boundaries, speakers said at a reception for underprivileged high school graduates yesterday.
The achievement of the underprivileged children is an example of how people who have dreams can make the impossible possible, they added. The reception, accorded by Underprivileged Children's Educational Programs (UCEP), Bangladesh to its students who achieved the highest results in the SSC exams this year, was held at UCEP Mirpur Technical School in the capital.
Of the 80 students who appeared at the exam from the school, 79 scored GPA 5 in all subjects, said Brig Gen (retd) Aftab Uddin Ahmad, executive director of UCEP. He said UCEP operated 63 schools in several districts with an enrolment of 46,000 distressed working children with equal gender ratio. Dhaka University VC AAMS Arefin Siddique also spoke.
