TOBE TAI HOK

Tobe Tai Hok

Plot: A web of secrets, deceits, games and lies ... and three human beings caught up in a dangerous tangle of love, lust and passion.
Review: It is about a love triangle with drops of psychological thriller. The director, Saugata Ray Burman's approach to the film is great. He introduces the characters in surrealistic style where the viewer feels attached to the storyline. Tilottoma, played by Swastika Mukherjee is brilliant in the movie with her depressed makeup. Oh! those eyes… Arjo, played by Samadarshi Dutta, on other hand is a passionate, handsome attractive young painter. Many women would surrender to that passion. Arjo's characterization was superb. At moments, it felt like none but Dutta was born to play that role. On the opposite side of the horizon is Amartya (Joy Sengupta) – a psychiatrist – who seems to be a passionless man. If one has to look for a protagonist, then it could be Amartya. But then again, you have to look real deep. Probably lust and passion is the real villain in the movie. Working with few characters, the story gets engraved into one's mind while watching. The characters become real person – who no matter how different than us – they become our own. Once again, I must reiterate how Swastika Mukherjee played the role of a depressed woman. She is the victim of lust and love. A blend of a depressed woman with an unquenched thirst for love makes Tilottoma character everyone would feel for. The only and important flaw of the movie is that it fails to convey the real meaning of the story. Therefore, I am afraid the audience may be left without a long-lasting feeling.
