Allegedly 'Fake' account threatens Salah’s mother
Egypt FA president reveals that a official of Egypt FA did not in fact threaten Salah.
Al Jazeera had published the initial news about Salah's mother being threatened by an Egyptian FA official but the outlet deleted the news later on.
A fake account, bearing the name of a senior official of Egyptian football made a thinly veiled threat after Mohamed Salah accused the national football body for the country’s poor World Cup campaign. Salah, who suffered an injury to his shoulder after being taken down by Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos during the Champions League final, did not reach the heights that he would have liked during the World Cup after taking the English Premier League by storm last season.
"I'd like to remind @MoSalah that your mother is still in Egypt. You are abroad and can do as you wish. Those who understand, understand,” the post said.
Salah posted two videos on Facebook complaining about the scenario during the World Cup. The Liverpool star already has a fractious relationship with Egypt's football body due to complications with his image rights.
"We had many disturbances at the team's camp during our participation at the World Cup in Russia," Salah said, adding that he was disturbed in his room in the middle of the night by visitors wanting to "chat".
"I'm the person that these things happen to. I'm the person who gets harmed by these things."
The footballer also criticised setting up the team’s training base in Chechnya, which apparently was hundreds of kilometres away from where the national team matches were being played during the World Cup.
During the tournament Salah was also paraded around Grozny stadium by Ramzan Kadyrov, Chechnya's Kremlin-backed leader.
Media reports had even suggested that Salah considered quitting the national team as he did not accept being used as a political pawn.
