Teachers, students, officials and employees of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) yesterday protested Saturday's police action on the campus and demanded immediate resignation of the vice-chancellor.
After a human chain in front of the administrative building for an hour from 10:00am, they brought out a procession and paraded the campus.
The procession ended in front of the administrative building.
At a rally there, the protesters demanded immediate reopening of the university.
Among others, Dr RM Hafizur Rahman, associate professor of Mathematics department and convener of 'Durniti Birodhi Mancha', Abu Sayeed Md Wadudur Rahman, assistant professor of Bengali department and member secretary of 'Durniti Birodhi Mancha' spoke.
They said that the vice-chancellor of the university had no rights to hold his position anymore as he is a corrupt person and his corruptions have been proved by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
They claimed that the VC instigated the police and his fellows to attack them during their 'peaceful' programme on April 20.
They also threatened to continue their agitation till the demand were met.
