National grid gets one more gas supplier

The newly drilled well of Brahmanbaria Titas Gas Field started supplying 30 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of natural gas to the national grid yesterday.
Drilling work of the well, funded by Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Ltd (BGFCL), kicked off on March 19 last year on the south-east zone of the field on the west bank of Titas river in the district.
State-owned Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd (BAPEX) with support of BGFCL drilled the well transversely up to 3,350 metres depth.
Petrobangla Chairman Md Hossain Mansur launches the gas supplying process in the gas field where BGFCL Managing Director Md Shafiqur Rahman and BAPEX Managing Director MA Baki were also present.
Thirty-three wells of the six gas fields under the BGFCL now produce 791 MMCFD of natural gas. The company, which meets 37 percent of the national demand for gas, also plans to drill four more gas wells by this year.
