MUD

mudPlot: Coming of age of two boys in southern part of United States. They encounter a fugitive and form a pact to help him evade the bounty hunters on his trail and to reunite him with his true love.
Review: A near picture-perfect movie, Mud gave me an eerily feeling of the deep south of America. It is a place where a fugitive can hide in an island without anyone noticing. Mud will evoke your senses and thought process. There are certain similarities with 'Huckelberry Finn'. The two boys and their fugitive friend, 'Mud' played excellently portraying the characters. Slowly, but, surely one will begin to feel for the characters. Viewers can't help feeling sympathetic to Ellis, played by Tye Sheridan. He doesn't want sympathy though; he punches a senior and confronts a gangster without a flinch. But, yet, the character wants belonging through Mud.
The Mississippi river is used as a character of a movie. The settings are magnificent. The movie begins to slowly engage the audience to the storyline. Soon, we learn who Mud is and get acquainted to him. Mud, played by Matthew McConaughey, is not a pleasant guy at all. Yet, we begin to feel for Mud as did the two boys. Even the small characters, like Ellis' family intrigues the audience.
Then, there is Juniper, played by Reese Whitherspoon – her character, by default wants sympathy. She makes sure that the viewer connects to her pain.
It is a movie that will stay with you for a while. It will engage you and will make you feel that you want to help the characters in dire situation.
