JCE on water sharing meets in city today
The two-day fifth meeting of Indo-Bangladesh Joint Committee of Experts (JCE) on working out water sharing arrangements of common rivers begins in the city today.
A 12-member Indian delegation led by Water Resources Secretary AK Goswami arrived here yesterday to attend the meeting to be held at Sonargaon Hotel.
Water Resources Secretary Faisal Ahmed Choudhury will lead the 11-member Bangladesh delegation at the meeting that will focus on sharing of the common river waters.
Official sources said the meeting would work out modalities for an agreement on long-term sharing of waters of seven common rivers -- Teesta, Dharla, Dutkhan, Muhuri, Khowai, Monu and Gumti.
