JCD threatens tougher movement after Eid
Leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of opposition BNP yesterday threatened to launch a tougher action movement across the country after Eid if the government fails to release their leaders and activists.
The JCD leaders said this at an opinion exchange meeting with university correspondents of various dailies at an iftar party at DUCSU building on the Dhaka University campus.
They said that they have no way left but to launch a tougher movement to release the JCD activists and help the opposition to dislodge the "autocratic," Sheikh Hasina government after Eid.
"We are going to launch a vigorous movement to compel the AL government to release all JCD activists arrested in the city on December 17," said JCD's acting president Monjur Elahi.
He said that a total 65 JCD activists have been arrested on the day.
Condemning the government's continuous repression on the opposition, the JCD president said, "Both the people and the student community of the country will oust the ruling party."
Talking to the reporters, DU unit president of JCD, Manir Hossain, said that all the residential halls of the university are now occupied by the armed cadres of BCL.
Condemning the BCL cadres for the ousting the JCD activists from the dormitories, Manir urged the DU authorities to take immediate steps against the terrorists and free the halls from their clutches.
Among others, ABM Mosharraf Hossain, Munsi Bazlul Basit Anjum, Mostafizul Islam Mamun also addressed the function.
