Foreign dignitaries continue to express shock
Dignitaries of different countries and heads of foreign missions in Bangladesh have continued to express their deep shock at the tragic loss of lives in a building collapse at Savar on the outskirts of the capital.
In a message to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong yesterday said, “I offer my heartfelt condolences to you, those who were injured and the families of those who perished.”
In a message to Foreign Minister Dipu Moni, Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid also saddened at the deaths.
“I am deeply distressed to learn about the collapse of the multi-storey building at Savar leading to the loss of so many precious lives and causing injuries to several others,” he said.
Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav, Chairman of Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi and Foreign Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire in condolence messages to President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Dipu Moni expressed deep sorrow and sympathies to the government and people of Bangladesh, and to the bereaved members of family of the tragic incident.
Korean Ambassador Lee Yun-young said “I would like to extent my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and my sincere sympathy to the people of Bangladesh.”
Canadian High Commissioner Heather Cruden said, “We stress the importance for all governments to take measures to provide workers with safe and healthy working conditions."
