Duetsche Welle launches Annweshan
German news agency Duetsche Welle's first Bangla TV programme is set to go on air from April 13. “Annweshan” will cover a wide range of topics including science, technology, environment and lifestyle.
A press conference was held on the occasion at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka yesterday.
Present there was German Ambassador to Dhaka, Dr. Albrecht Conze, who said that Germany is working worldwide to raise awareness in science, technology and environment, and Bangladeshi students will be given more opportunities to study these subjects in Germany.
Deutsche Welle's South Asia Distribution Officer, Tobias Grote Beverborg, termed the programme a “milestone” for DW. Informing that they have been broadcasting programmes (on radio) in Bangla for 40 years, he said, a TV programme with focus on local issues is a result of that.
Members of the Bangla department of the DW headquarters in Germany's Bonne are producing the programme that will feature advancements in science and technology, especially developments in Germany and Europe as a whole. Hosted by DW's Chief of Bangla department, Debarati Guha, the cultural diversity of various countries of South Asia will also come up on the show.
The programme will be aired on Ekushey TV at 6:30pm on Saturdays and 3:30pm on Sundays.
