Different bodies distribute warm clothes
Different organisations have distributed warm cloths and blankets among the destitute hit by the current cold wave across the country.
The Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association (BNFWA) distributed warm clothes and other garments among the destitute people in the Sailors' Colony area of Dhaka Cantonment on Tuesday.
The supplies, collected through voluntary donation, include warm clothes, saree, lungi, children's wear and footwear.
President of the BNFWA Naima Mujtaba distributed some clothes among the poor people.
The BAF and Bangladesh Air Force Women Welfare Association (BAFWWA) also distributed warm clothes among about 500 cold-hit poor people in Paharkanchanpur in Tangail on Monday.
BAFWWA President Begum Dilruba Azam on behalf of the association distributed the clothes.
The BAF and BAFWWA also distributed winter clothes among the distressed people in Moulvibazar and Bogra districts recently, said an ISPR press release.
The Care Bangladesh has distributed 20,508 blankets among the cold-hit people of northern region.
Of the total, 15,000 blankets were distributed in Tetulia and sadar of Panchagarh, and Baladangi and sadar of Thakurgaon, said a press release.
With the financial assistance of the USAID, Care partner NGOs and Disaster Management Committee distributed the items in Panchagarh, Tetulia, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Bogra and Naogaon districts.
A limited number of T-shirts and caps were also distributed among the affected people.
Meanwhile, the Savar Gonoshasthaya Kendra has taken up a programme to distribute warm clothes among the destitutes in the northern districts hit by the current cold wave, says a press release.
Several teams of the Kendra carrying warm clothes went to Dinajpur yesterday. Two medical teams will also provide treatment to the poor patients.
