Ctg Abahani, Baridhara through
After spending two seasons in the second-tier professional league, Chittagong Abahani returned to the Bangladesh Premier League they handed a 2-1 defeat to Rahmatganj in their penultimate match of the Bangladesh Championship League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
The win took the port city outfit to 27 points from 13 matches and also pulled Uttar Baridhara, who have 24 points from 13 matches, into the Premier League for the first time.
Rahmatganj, relegated from the Premier League a season ago, had the chance of promotion till yesterday, but the defeat to Chittagong Abahani meant they stayed in third position, nine points behind leaders and six adrift of Uttar Baridhara, with just a game to go.
Javed Khan and Ismail Jahed scored for Chittagong Abahani while Nurul Absar scored the only goal for Rahmatganj.
