Criminal snatched from police custody in Fatullah: 5 held
Police rounded up five alleged members of a criminal gang after scores of armed members of the gang wrested one of their accomplices away from police custody at Shahi Mahalla under Fatullah thana yesterday morning.
Sources said acting on a tip-off, a police team from Chitashal police camp led by constable Rafiqul Islam arrested Anwar, 27, with tools for making pipeguns from a house in Shahi Mahalla area at around 5:30am yesterday.
But soon after the arrest, about 100 miscreants led by Anwar's brother Rajon rushed to the spot and rescued Anwar after chasing the policemen away.
Later, an additional police force from Fatullah thana was sent to the spot and managed to arrest five members of the gang identified as Rahi, Shohag, Iqbal, Jahangir and Rajon.
A case was filed with Fatullah thana in this connection.
