Jukta Front to campaign for democracy
Jukta Front, led by Dr Badruddoza Chowdhury, will carry out campaigns and hold rallies across the country in September to mobilise public support against “undemocratic” forces.
Jukta Front leaders took the decision at a meeting at its chairman's Baridhara residence yesterday.
As per decision of the meeting, they will hold organisational meetings and rallies in all divisions, districts and upazilas after Eid-ul-Azha, which will continue throughout September.
The main objective is to unite people against “undemocratic” forces, said a press release.
The meeting also decided to unite all to create a national spirit against repression, despotism and undemocratic activities. It will also welcome all political parties, professionals and civil society members, who believe in positive politics, added the release.
The leaders condemned repression on the students, who waged a movement seeking safe roads. They demanded that the government release the arrested students before Eid-ul-Azha, allowing them to enjoy the festival with their family members.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rob, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Bikalpa Dhara General Secretary Abdul Mannan and JSD General Secretary Abdul Malek Ratan, among others, spoke at the meeting with B Chowdhury in the chair.
At the beginning of the meeting, Jukta Front leaders paid tributes to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members, marking National Mourning Day.
