Chinese engineer killed

A Chinese citizen was killed after falling down from a structure while working in Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company (Kafco) in Chittagong yesterday.
The dead Hao Jia Nyi, a 56-year old male, was an engineer of Chinese National Engineering Company, said police.
Quoting the officials of Kafco, police said Hao fell down from the 15-feet structure while trying to set up a generator at 12:30pm. He was injured in the head and his helmet had fallen down before his body touched the ground.
Critically injured Hao was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Mohiuddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Karnaphuli Police Station, said the KAFCO authority mysteriously did not inform them about the incident. They visited the spot in the afternoon after knowing from journalists.
The cause of his death would be known after getting the autopsy report, he added.
The Kafco officials could not be reached for comments.
