Thousands join Hefazat's grand rally at Suhrawardy Udyan

Thousands of leaders and activists of Hefazat-e Islam Bangladesh joined its grand rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka this morning.
Hefazat's Paltan zone has organised the rally to press home their demands, including the dissolution of the Women's Affairs Reform Commission, the withdrawal of cases against its leaders, and a ban on the Awami League.

Yesterday, Junayed Al Habib, the organisation's central senior vice-president and president of its Dhaka city unit, threatened to go for a tougher programme if its key demands are not met.

"If our demands are not fulfilled, Dhaka will come to a standstill tomorrow [today]," Junayed said while addressing a rally in front of the capital's Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Juma prayers yesterday.
