People want change: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that the people are tired of the Awami League government's misrule and want it out of power.
"The people's victory will be secured if the united movement continues," he said at a discussion in the capital's Jatiya Press Club organised by Bhasani Anusari Parishad in memory of Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury.
Mirza Fakhrul asked the youth to unite and oust the current government by escalating the ongoing one-point movement, which calls for the government's resignation and a non-partisan administration for the next national election.
"People now want a change [of government] from the bottom of their hearts," he said.
"The time is very short, let's unite and continue the struggle," he added.
Fakhrul said people's lives have become miserable and unbearable due to unusual hikes in the prices of daily commodities.
Speaking at the discussion, Nagorik Oikya president Mahmudur Rahman Manna, also spoke at the event among others and echoed similar sentiments.
