Two Bangladeshis injured in 'BSF firing' in Lalmonirhat
Two Bangladeshis were injured reportedly in firing by the Indian Border Security Force along Shamserngar border in Lalmonirhat's Patgram upazila early today.
BSF opened fire near number-7 sub-pillar of main pillar-863 at the border when the two entered India illegally to smuggle cows, claimed locals. One of the injured managed to return to Bangladesh, but the other one was detained by the BSF.
The injured were identified as Alam Hossain, 36, and Sujan Mia, 29, reports our local correspondent.
Mujibur Rahman said his son was influenced by some smugglers at the border to bring cattle from India. Sujan was shot in the right rib when the BSF opened fire on them.
Sujan escaped and came to Bangladesh. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital but his condition is critical.
Mujibur did not agree to share the address of where his son is receiving treatment.
Injured Alam Hossain's cousin Alamgir Hossain said that his brother was captured by the BSF with a bullet wound in his leg.
Meanwhile, Shamsernagar BGB Camp Commander, Mofizul Islam, said he heard about the incident of firing at the border. BSF did not provide any information till 3:00pm. Besides, no one from the border has informed the BGB about this incident.
