Sohel Taj to march to Gono Bhaban with 3-point demand

Sohel Taj, a former state minister for Home Affairs, and son of the country's first prime minister, today (April 7, 2022) announced a programme to march towards Gono Bhaban on April 10 to press home a three-point demand.

Sohel, in a Facebook post on his verified page, demanded that the government declare April 10, the day the first Bangladesh government was formed, as "Republic Day".

He also demanded that the state will have to observe November 3, Jail Killing Day, as the "National Mourning Day".

Sohel Taj, who is not active in politics anymore, also demanded that the names, contributions and biographies of all the civil and military organisers, directors, martyrs and freedom fighters of the Liberation War, including four national leaders, should be included in the textbooks and syllabuses of all levels with due dignity and importance.

He said he would take the position in front of the parliament and start the march towards Gono Bhaban at 4:00 pm on April 10.

He, however, said this is his initiative. "If any of you want to join, you can come. Or else, I will go alone - Joy Bangla," he wrote.
