SCBA election likely on March 15, 16

The annual election of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) is likely to be held on March 15 and 16.

SCBA Secretary Advocate Md Abdun Nur Dulal told The Daily Star that the current body of the country's prime bar association would officially announce the schedule on February 23.

The voting will take place from 10:00am to 5:00pm with a one-hour lunch break on the election days for 14 executive posts including that of the president and secretary, he said.

More than 8,000 lawyers have registered their names as voters for the SCBA annual election.

SCBA sources said that the main contest of the election will happen between the ruling Awami League-backed Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad and BNP-backed Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Ainjibi Forum.
